Tiny Kitchen, Big Food

About

Hi! My name is Don and I am an engineer and a food blogger. tinykitchenbigfood.com

I have been married to my wife Pam for 27 years and love sharing my life with her. We recently moved to Ohio and the new house has a small but functional kitchen. It seemed so much bigger before we moved in! I am writing this blog to show that you don’t need a huge gourmet kitchen to make food that is big in flavor.

We love spending time at wineries and have many favorites in north eastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania. We have recently started exploring the wineries in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

We have a great dog Molly who  loves to sample what we cook. She is a rescue dog from the mean streets of Erie, PA. We are uncertain of her breed but  I think she is a flat coated retriever.

Molly  is always in the kitchen when there is food cooking. She can hear a knife cutting through an apple from anywhere in the house and will run to the kitchen before the knife hits the cutting board. She then sits next to the cabinet hoping and waiting for some small morsel to fall. We refer to giving Molly a small slice of apple or whatever as “paying tax”. Thankfully most items are tax free!

I LOVE EATING so I have taught myself to cook tasty, simple dishes.

I love to eat meat.

I love to eat pasta.

I love to drink coffee.

I enjoy cooking mainly because I enjoy eating food so much!

The list of foods I don’t like is pretty short: cottage cheese and liver. Everything else is fair game.

I love to cook outside on the grill, especially if I can cook the entire meal on the grill. Why? You can be a little messier and I think meat tastes better when it is cooked on an open flame. Just the appearance of grill marks on chicken makes my mouth water!
